About Us
Bundteas sprouted from the seeds of cherished family gatherings, where the aroma of freshly baked goods was a constant. These gatherings, set in the nurturing kitchens of beloved family matriarchs, stitched baking into the fabric of our familial expression. The tradition of coming together over delightful treats was handed down from one generation to the next, with each recipe and pastry more than just food—it was a celebration of togetherness.
Inspired by the legacy of these formidable women, Bundteas was founded with a deep-seated desire to keep this communal spirit alive. The Bundt cake, chosen for its symbolism of unity and celebration, perfectly embodies our mission to foster connections and create joyous moments. At Bundteas, we don't just bake; we extend an ongoing legacy, offering each visitor not just a treat, but a slice of our history.
As you step into the world of Bundteas, we offer more than exceptional baked goods. We invite you to savor a taste of our heritage, meticulously crafted with love and designed for sharing. Our products do more than satiate—they unite, echoing the familial bonds that inspired our inception. At Bundteas, every bite is an invitation to come together and celebrate, continuing the traditions that have sweetened our past.
Our Founders:
David Nolan's journey in the culinary world started humbly at the stoves of a line cook before blossoming into the ownership of a bustling restaurant. His true calling, however, was realized in the oven-warmed corners of the bakery world. In 1997, David founded Hill Country Bakery in San Antonio, where his innovative spirit led the venture to soar to revenues exceeding $150 million. After transitioning from the bakery in 2018, David applied his seasoned expertise to consulting roles, guiding innovation teams across Fortune 500 companies, the US Military, and burgeoning startups in tech, media, and fitness. His entrepreneurial instincts and strategic foresight have shaped robust teams and transformative solutions, marking a career adorned with significant accomplishments.
Hector Ortega's journey in the culinary world began as a teenager, working as a dishwasher in one of David's establishments. Even in those early days, his potential was evident, and under David's mentorship, Hector quickly rose through the ranks. Eventually, he became the Director of Operations at Hill Country Bakery. The strong bond and shared vision between Hector and David led to the creation of Bundteas, located in the heart of San Antonio. Bundteas specializes in Bundt cakes, cookies, teas, and specialty drinks, all made with the finest ingredients. Hector’s unwavering commitment to quality and community engagement embodies the hardworking spirit of Texas, establishing Bundteas as a cornerstone of local entrepreneurship and culinary excellence.
